I came across this ad for an R33 in LA. Shall we see what's wrong?
First,
IF YOUR NOT SERIOUS ABOUT BUYING THIS, DO NOT CONTACT ME. I don't care about your opinions or anything of the sort. DONT BE a TROLL
Pretty standard angry Craigslist start. Now let's get to the real fun stuff....
YES You read it right I have for sale a 1996 Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T Series 2. RHD!! THIS IS NOT A 240SX WITH A BODY KIT! ITS A REAL SKYLINE! It's numbers matching. Comes with JDM title and can be registered under "grey market cars". Can be titled and plated and has been before.
Comes with JDM title and can be registered under "grey market cars".....I don't know what this guy thinks, but "grey market cars" isn't some brand you can check at the DMV....
Continuing
I also have an Import sheet for this baby (numbers matching to the blue tag in the engine bay) among other various paperwork, tuning bibles, receipts, invoices etc.
I don't know what he's been reading, but "an import sheet" as he says (no idea the document he's actually referring to) isn't exactly all the forms you need....If you could import cars with one sheet of paper, wouldn't everyone be doing it?
Moving along to the most hilarious piece of misinformation:
Also, this car is legal under the show/display law and u can drive it to shows on the streets/highways
Who knows where this guy gets his info, but that's not how Show and Display works. At all. It's only for a certain set of vehicles which have been pre approved because of technological significance and production numbers of 500 or less. An R33 GTS-T isn't exactly either, and isn't on the approved list.
And it gets worse.
YOU CAN NO LONGER IMPORT THESE CARS!! ONLY 96-98 SKYLINES ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE DOT/NHTSA CERTIFIED, WHICH MEANS THEY CAN BE TITLED AND REGISTERED. ALSO, DUE TO SKEWED TESTING RESULTS FROM A COMPANY CALLED MOTOREX FOR R32 AND R34, YOU CAN NOT REGISTER THOSE MODELS. ONLY R33'S FALL IN TO THE CATEGORY OF ABLE TO BE REGISTERED! ONLY R33's! WITH A LITTLE PATIENCE AND TENACITY + THE GREY AREA INVOLVING THESE CARS, YOU CAN GET IT SO THAT U CAN DAILY DRIVE THIS MONSTER!!
Um.....some of this is right. 96-98 R33s ARE eligible to be DOT/NHTSA, but that process comes with a price tag of around $35k. On top of that, it's still under 21 years old, so isn't EPA exempt and can't really be brought into compliance without OBD-II. And patience and tenacity don't mean you can circumvent the standards. I can use patience and tenacity in planning a bank robbery.....
Over all, it's incredible how the owner of an imported car can know so little about importation. And grammar. Also, hella CP for a state-titled R33 GTS-T. You can get a state-titled R34 GTT for the same price.
Full listing available !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Pretty nice shop built car with a pretty clueless owner.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

That Translates to a 2.5L inline 6 thats turbo! Approx. 60 Km (37,000 miles give or take on the chasis motor has under 1000). Was built by 9K racing. I'm just testing the waters here and don't need to sell.
I'm always interested in a cool car and am open to trades with a car+cash on top but be reasonable. No low ballers! I also have an Import sheet for this baby (numbers matching to the blue tag in the engine bay) among other various paperwork, tuning bibles, receipts, invoices etc. No accidents. Great show or track car. Had it built to with the intention of matching the R33 GTR from Grand Turismo which I have attached a pic of below. It's a grey market vehicle and can be registered and titled. If your serious I'll help you with the process so you can daily drive it :)
Also, this car is legal under the show/display law and u can drive it to shows on the streets/highways
I KNOW HOW RARE MY CAR IS I DON'T CARE HOW MUCH THEY ARE SELLING FOR IN CANADA OR AUSTRALIA YOU WILL RARELY EVER GET ANOTHER CHANCE TO BUY AN R33 SKYLINE WITH A BRAND NEW RB25DET IN THE STATES! ONLY R33's! ALSO YOU CAN INSURE THIS. I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE TELLS YOU IF YOU CAN INSURE A BARRETT-JACKSON '69 COPO CAMARO SS FOR $200K, THEN YOU CAN GET INSURANCE FOR $50K FOR THIS BABY WHICH WOULD BE MORE THEN ENOUGH. IT WOULD FALL UNDER THE CATEGORY OF KIT CAR. I'VE DONE THE RESEARCH. CHECK WITH WAWANEESA OR HAGGHERTY.
DON'T LET YOUR DREAM CAR GET AWAY!! THIS IS SO STUPID OF ME TO SELL THIS CAR BECAUSE ITS VALUE WILL ONLY GO UP!
She has no radio but is covered with a carbon plate. (It was originally a 600 HP car, no time for radio haha), and will come on The white wheels in the pic. I'm not meeting up with anyone and of course no test drives at all without cash in hand. No tire kickers, its a. REAL SKYLINE! And last but not least, please don't waste mine or your time.
Hurry up and if you want the car act fast. Don't have the cash? Get a loan c'mon man its an R33!! Screw any of your friends cars this is the showstopper at every event!!
Hit me up if interested and lets see what we got out there! Ready, set, GO!!!!

Shes on coilovers, has carbon trim all over the engine and interior, Sparco Sprint Racing seats and its a RIGHT HAND DRIVE! I can go on and on with pictures and Invoices as well as work performed. Was built as a show/display car!. Nismo Short shifter. Monster intercooler. I would conservatively estimate her horsepower at about 340 HP to the RWD. This car was built right with no expense spared. Over all it was built not to be gaudy with a silly body kit or ridiculous wing, but rather a very OEM car that has a new flair to it. Super clean and very rare. $25 k worth of work done to her in the last year alone! With invoices to back all that up. I have the original export certificate and other paperwork in a big old folder that goes with the car. A few extra parts here and there.
$25k firm! Call or text

I'm even skeptical that it's the 9K car. the engine bay pic doesn't look right... unless the plenum has been changed since the photo was taken.
also is that the 40th anniversary badge put on the rear wing instead of the c-pillar?

That same car in Canada... $8500 bucks for a mint one...$6000 for a less than perfect one.
It's crazy how much people think things are worth just because you couldn't buy in in the states.
This car in Japan would've cost you no more than $3000 usd @ auction. If it was 25 years old you could import your own for under 10K no problem.
An R33 GT-R in good shape would only be about 15-17K delivered to your door step if it was 25 years old.

Not exactly. Even an R32 GTR to your door will cost you $20k here.
And they do go for over $3k for a nice one.... http://www.goo-net-exchange.com/usedcars/NISSA…
Plus that's without the cost to import, which generally runs around $5500.
Is the price of this ridiculous? Yes. But would they be dirt cheap without the 25 year rule? Hardly.

Goo-net is not auction prices, it's retail prices in Japan but you are pretty much spot on on the import cost $4500-$5500.

My point is this dude's an idiot. You can get a state titled R33 GTR for that price.
